Mobile App Development
We design and build mobile apps for Android and iOS, and have published apps to the Google Play Store. Projects start from $10,000 including GST. Most businesses do not need an app — we will tell you if a website will do the job.
Scoped and quoted individually. App projects vary far more than websites, so the starting figure is a floor rather than a typical price.
All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.What mobile app development actually involves
A mobile app is software a customer installs on their phone. It makes sense when you need something a website genuinely cannot do — offline use, push notifications, hardware access, or a tool people return to repeatedly. It rarely makes sense as a second version of your website.
What's included
- Scoping
- What the app must do, for whom, and whether it should exist at all. This is the most valuable stage.
- Design
- Screen design and user flow, following each platform's conventions rather than fighting them.
- Development
- Android and iOS. Cross-platform where it suits, native where it does not.
- Store submission
- Store listings, assets, privacy declarations and the review process. We have been through it.
- Post-launch support
- Apps need maintenance as operating systems change. Ongoing support is agreed separately.
How it works
-
Feasibility
Should this be an app at all? Often the honest answer is no.
-
Scope
A defined first version. The main cause of failed app projects is trying to build everything at once.
-
Design
Screens and flows approved before development.
-
Build and test
Developed and tested on real devices, not only simulators.
-
Submit
Store submission and review, which takes time and occasionally several attempts.
Is this right for you?
A good fit when
- You need something a website genuinely cannot do.
- Customers would use it repeatedly, not once.
- You can fund maintenance — an unmaintained app breaks with the next OS update.
Probably not when
- A responsive website would do the same job. It usually would, for less.
- You want an app mainly because competitors have one.
- There is no budget beyond the initial build.
Common questions
01 How much does an app cost in Australia?
Our projects start from $10,000 including GST and are quoted individually. App costs vary enormously with scope — a simple utility app and a marketplace with accounts and payments are entirely different pieces of work.
02 Do I actually need an app?
Probably not. Most business goals are met better and far more cheaply by a good mobile website. An app earns its cost when you need offline capability, push notifications, device hardware, or genuine repeat engagement. We would rather talk you out of one than build something that gets deleted.
03 Android, iOS, or both?
It depends on your customers. Building both at once roughly increases cost; starting with one and expanding is often the sensible path.
04 Who owns the app and the store listing?
You do. Developer accounts are set up in your business name and you hold the code.
05 What happens after launch?
Apps need ongoing maintenance as Android and iOS release updates. Budget for it — an app that stops working after a year is a wasted investment.
